Wicked

really made it sink in for me what has happened to pacing in megablockbusters. with sequels already in development before the original has even succeeded they know theyre already in it for the long haul because theyre adapting an already successful IP and need to milk it for as much money as possible. you dont actually have to make a movie anymore you can just resurrect a successful adaptation of a successful adaptation and then drag it out act 1 for 3 hours. for a musical this is rhythmically dead like the flow of events is jolty and stop and start and the writing is so incredibly insanely on the nose that it feels completely empty to me. whimsy-less but also too shallow and childish to say anything powerful like it seems to want to. (take it with a little salt because i do think that watching The Elephant Man recently has made me allergic to stuff i perceive as vapid unemotional unempathetic surface level liberal stuff)

the whole reason "the villains perspective is actually nuanced and human" antihero type stories are powerful is because they Are Actually Bad and bad people are Interesting to us because deep down we all know that morality is gray and circumstance can make any of us find ourselves behaving Wickedly........................ AND YET this movie or perhaps this musical or whatever wants to play their story as about how actually the villain was Completely justified because everyone else was bigoted towards minorities the whole time. which, while it may have served to make a point about real world oppression, is deeply uninteresting here if you ask me personally because i think it is supremely flatly executed. i liked when the songs slapped which was less often than i would have liked AND ALSO i cant give the movie credit for those because they arent original........... so what does the movie have like what does it have. i think its bad! i think its a bad movie and i think its soulless and emblematic of the current state of entertainment. no urgency no emotions no dynamic range no passion turn the wheel again crank the money machine spin the slot machine of investment print money make people cry. well i hope some people got something out of this movie because they really seem to i hope its not all as evil as it feels to me. it truly feels satanic to me but it seems other people can take this at face value. maybe im too jaded OR MAYBE NO ONE ELSE CAN SEE THE TRUTH I AM THE JOKER SOCIETY!!! i dont feel too jaded. i love pretentious things i love bad things i love when things have something i just feel like this has nothing. im sorry society but i am full of hate. but my hate is love for the real. but my love for the real becomes hate for the fake. and thats dangerous. well whatever who cares what i feel... except me i have to care. i have to care about myself and to care about myself i have to hate a little sometimes! and im not sorry because i love myself. maybe this movie has value after all for helping me on my journey in learning how to hate. kiss kiss mwah mwah mwah mwah mwah mwah mwah mwah m wah love hate hate kiss mwah
